David Schroeder is an associate in The Cook Group’s St. Louis office. His practice areas include asbestos defense, litigation, and general civil defense matters.

Prior to joining The Cook Group, David served as Assistant Public Defender in the Missouri State Public Defender System and as a Private Practice attorney specializing in personal injury law, criminal law, and complex class action litigation. As In-House counsel with organizations whose mission was to assist clients in ending timeshare arrangements, David was primarily responsible for client contact and litigation matters that included individual, mass, and class tort actions.
David received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Valparaiso University and his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s Law School. David was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 2011 and admitted to the United States District Court – Eastern District of Missouri in 2020.

Active in numerous pro bono and volunteer endeavors, David is a member and former legal representative of the Veteran Leadership Committee where he served to further discussion and bring resources together to combat various issues faced by indigent and homeless veterans. While Chair of the Pro Bono Committee at the BAMSL Veterans Committee he worked to develop awareness of the need for a pro bono attorney willing to handle legal matters for veterans. David was honored to previously serve as Trial Attorney for the “Pathways to Progress” program and Veterans Advocacy Project as part of Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry at St. Francis Community Services.
