Jim Long is Of Counsel at The Cook Group in Syracuse, New York.  He is a fearless advocate for his clients in the courtroom and is experienced handling a wide variety of litigation for both self-insured and insured businesses.  Jim has successfully defended clients at trial in both federal and state courts across the country.  He handles a wide variety of litigation matters ranging from mass torts and general liability insurance defense to commercial litigation.  His clients have ranged from self-insured Fortune 100 companies to local mom-and-pop businesses and everything in between.   Further, he is a skilled counselor on the issues of data privacy, cybersecurity, data breach response, emerging technology, intellectual property and corporate matters.  He works tirelessly to assist clients in managing cybersecurity and privacy law compliance requirements and is well versed in the challenges of data breach response.

Jim earned his Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law and received his bachelor’s degree from The City College of New York where he majored in political science, graduating with honors.  He was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and moved to the Syracuse area with his wife and two sons in 2014.
