Ryan Sweeney is an attorney in The Cook Group’s New York City Office, practicing in the area of product liability, toxic torts, and specializing in the asbestos litigation. Ryan defends his clients in a variety of capacities in all aspects of litigation. Ryan has defended clients at numerous depositions, at trial as second chair attorney, and on appeal.  Ryan manages the defense of several clients in New York State, and assists managing several clients as national counsel, ensuring a universal and consistent defense. Ryan’s specialty is motion practice, including motions to dismiss and summary judgment. In addition to client or product-specific defenses, Ryan is experienced with defenses involving personal jurisdiction, forum non conveniens, successor liability, corporate dissolution, choice of law, statutes of limitations and repose, as well as motions regarding general and specific causation. 

Ryan is admitted to practice law in New York State, as well as in several federal courts, including the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the Southern District of New York, and the Eastern District of New York. Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Stony Brook University in 2009 and he received his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law in 2015 where he graduated magna cum laude.
