James Parker

Associate

James Parker is an associate in The Cook Group’s New York City office. He works on all aspects of litigation from inception through trial, including discovery, deposition of witnesses, and motion practice. James has conducted extensive historical and legal research on Constitutional issues and prepared Constitutional law presentations. With an interest in art, he has worked with trademark and copyright applications and drafted operating agreements as well as articles of incorporation. He has gained experience in arts, entertainment, and media related issues. James has helped artists navigate consignment contracts, artist dealer relationships and estate and legacy planning for artists. Prior to joining The Cook Group James worked in Art and Media law.

James received his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School in 2022. While attending law school, James sat on the executive boards of the Black Law Students Association, the NYLS OutLaws and the Media Entertainment and Fashion Law Association. He was also a founding member of the Intellectual Property Society and a research assistant for Professor Nadine Strossen. Additionally, he interned at National Geographic and in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

James graduated from the College of Wooster with a Major in Art History and a minor in French Literature and Language. James is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of both the New York State Bar Association and New York State Media Bar Association.
