Juan Maldonado is a seasoned trial attorney with nearly a decade of experience in criminal litigation, investigations, and advocacy. He has successfully handled all stages of prosecution, from pre- and post-arrest investigations to trials and appeals. His experience includes managing high-profile cases involving a full range of offenses, from misdemeanors to violent felonies and homicides.
Throughout his career, Juan has demonstrated exceptional trial advocacy skills, having first-chaired multiple felony jury trials and second-chaired a murder trial. He has conducted voir dire, direct and cross-examinations of witnesses and defendants, evidentiary suppression hearings, and grand jury proceedings. His legal expertise extends to drafting and litigating motions, search warrants, and appellate briefs, including successfully arguing a writ of habeas corpus before the New York State Appellate Court.
Beyond the courtroom, Juan has experience in legal education, serving as an adjunct professor, where he has taught trial advocacy to law students preparing for competition. His leadership experience includes supervising case assessments and making critical charging and investigative decisions in high-volume legal environments.
A native Spanish speaker, Juan brings a global perspective to his work, having been born in Lima, Peru, and studied abroad in Rome. He earned his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law, where he was recognized for his excellence in trial advocacy, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Boston College.
