Maria is a Partner at The Cook Group and focuses her practice on mass tort, class action and complex litigation in the areas of toxic tort, products liability, construction defect, and mass tort actions. She has decades of experience litigating in New York’s state and federal courts.
Maria focuses on efficient streamlined litigation handling to minimize defense costs and provide effective guidance to her clients. She possesses a particular knowledge of handling cases involving catastrophic injuries and damages representing both plaintiffs and defendants. She defends national and international corporations in mass tort matters involving environmental claims, products liability matters and general liability cases against premises owners.
She has served as the lead attorney representing hundreds of plaintiffs in PPA and Sulzer hip implant litigation. She represented building owners in several well-publicized and high-exposure cases in the World Trade Center Litigation involving the release of toxic substances into the environment, including mold, lead, asbestos, methanol, benzene, and other chemicals and contaminates. Maria also represents construction engineering firms in New York State Labor Law matters involving catastrophic injuries.
