Richard E. Griffith is an associate in The Cook Group’s Pittsburgh office, where he focuses his practice on complex litigation matters, including toxic tort, products liability, general liability, construction accidents, and insurance defense.
Richard represents clients in Pennsylvania and West Virginia in all phases of litigation, from case assignment through resolution. He has experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation materials, and has appeared before magistrate courts, state courts, arbitration panels, and appellate courts. His practice also includes advising clients on litigation strategy, legal compliance, and risk management.
Prior to joining The Cook Group, Richard handled a broad range of matters involving toxic tort, general liability, automotive accidents, premises liability, construction accidents, medical malpractice, and eviction proceedings. He has worked closely with clients, insurers, adjusters, and co-counsel to develop efficient, practical strategies tailored to each case.
Richard began his legal career clerking in the Washington County Courthouse in Pennsylvania, where he assisted with trials, mediations, hearings, and judicial administration. In that role, he conducted legal research, drafted memoranda and court orders, and supported judges and court staff on a variety of substantive and procedural issues.
Richard earned his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law, where he received the CALI Award for Business Transactions Drafting. He earned his B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from California University of Pennsylvania and was recognized as a University Honors Scholar.
Richard is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
