Tayaba Zahra is an Associate Attorney in The Cook Group’s New York City office. Her practice focuses on general liability policies, providing insurance defense to the insured in personal injury lawsuits. She brings experience managing cases from inception, overseeing discovery with a focus toward developing strategies for resolution. Tayaba has conducted and defended depositions, drafted motions, and represented clients in various court proceedings.
Tayaba has handled a broad range of matters involving premises and automotive liability. Her background also includes commercial litigation, specifically construction defect matters and electronic document review work in support of high-stake regulatory and antitrust investigations.
Tayaba earned her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School where she was an associate at the Center for Real Estate Studies. She was a judicial intern at the New York City Housing Court and worked at a boutique residential real estate law firm in downtown Manhattan. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Middlebury College and studied abroad at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.
She is admitted to practice law in the state of New York and is an active member of the New York City Bar Association and South Asian Bar Association.
Tayaba enjoys abstract painting and writing poetry.
