Ashley Hess

Associate

Ashley N. Hess is an associate attorney in The Cook Group's Chicago office. She focuses her practice on a variety of legal matters, leveraging her background in criminal justice and experience in probate and family law.

Ashley earned her Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law, where she excelled academically, earning Dean's List recognition and a partial tuition scholarship. She also held leadership positions, serving as Articles Editor for the Animal and Natural Resource Law Review. During her time in law school, Ashley received the Jurisprudence Achievement Award for her exceptional performance in Criminal Procedure: Investigation.

Prior to joining The Cook Group, Ashley gained valuable legal experience as a law clerk and court officer for the Honorable Diane M. Rappleye in Jackson County Probate and Family Court. There, she conducted legal research, drafted orders, and maintained courtroom security. She also interned with the Lawrence County Public Defender Agency, where she assisted in case research and gained firsthand experience with formal court proceedings.

Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Indiana University, where she graduated with high honors and earned minors in Psychology and Sociology. She is passionate about advocating for her clients and is committed to providing effective legal representation.
